 “Your Auction Alternative!”

Signed lithograph by Charles Banks Wilson

“Awee”, the Navajo word for “baby” supplied the title for this portrait, based on studies made for the Indian Immigration mural in Oklahoma City.  The subject later appeared as the infant in the cradle in the Plains Madonna.

Concerning the baby, Charles Banks Wilson said:  “This is the happy result of my search for a full blood American Indian baby.  He was 3 months old in 1973 when I drew him while his mother held him in her lap. I know he is growing up somewhere with no knowledge of his fame, because his mother never came to see the murals.”

"In Tom Benton's Studio"

Signed lithograph 134/500 by Charles Banks Wilson
Charles Banks Wilson was a good friend of the noted Missouri painter Thomas Hart Benton, and assisted Benton in his search for suitable Native Americans to sketch in Oklahoma. C. B. Wilson created this color lithograph depicting the interior of Benton's studio, as well as a portrait of Benton, and a life-size bronze sculpture, now on the grounds of the Kansas City Art Institute
